The Maharashtra board of secondary education established in January 1, 1966 .This board of education was passed under the Act of  Legislature Assembly which is called the Maharashtra Education Act. This board was located in Pune. There are some other offices in some District of the State named are  Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur and many more. The Board have two main language one is English and another one is Marathi. The Maharashtra Board of education have many affiliated schools. There are nearly 9000 students are examine per year at the secondary level.

There are different department for the higher secondary level .Some departments are Arts, Science, Commerce , all these departments have there different subject.The students have some optional subject and some compulsory subject. Some extra languges is also studied for the higher secondary students. Computer knowledge is also provided to the students.
