Earlier the department of secondary education used to have two exams in a year, one in April and another in September. This system was revised and now the exams will be held in April- June which curtails loss of one valuable year for the students community. Karnataka has 14,000 high schools spread across 30 districts. Over a 4.600 schools are managed by the government, about 2,500 are aided schools and the rest managed by private. Apart from this, every district has one Morarji Desai High school and several schools managed by city corporations in the State. Hailed as one among few honest officers in the Department of Primary and Secondary Education, DV has taken several steps to improve the speed, efficiency of conducting exams and publishing results on time.
